When you get a new fish it is important to take it straight home! then You place the bag the fish are in, in your tank. wait 10-15 minutes before adding some of your tank water to the bag. wait for 5-10 minutes, then carefully put your fish in the tank with a net. wait 24 hours before feeding them.

Before you buy your fish make sure you leave the water to set for at least 5-7 days.

So to put a fish in a new tank it takes around 15-25 minutes.

Catfish are no different from any other fish. They all need a cycled filter running so if it takes 3 weeks to get your tank cycled and ready for fish, that is how long it takes before you can add a catfish. The basic rules of fish keeping state :- 1 inch of fish needs a minimum of 1 gallon of water. :- Every tank needs a permanently running cycled filter. :- Every tank need at least 50% of its water changed every week.. Follow those rules and your fish stand a chance of survival. Fail to follow those rules and I can guarantee failure.
