Above was the original thought, but tagged Bull Sharks (originally thought to be a species unique to the lake) have been found in the Caribbean and vice versa so they are able to make the journey up the river into the ocean and back. There are also marlin, tarpon and I believe tuna in this lake.
Sharks are salt water fish, they would not survive long in fresh water.
As far as I know it doesn't. The South American Lake that does have sharks is Lake Nicaragua. They are bull sharks which can survive for long periods and even breed in fresh water and salt water. They have found prehistoric shark remains at Lake Titicaca. So at some time in the distant past, it may have had sharks. I hope this answered your question.
