All ford diesels from around 2002 onward have a timing chain, I have an 05 mondeo 2.0tdci ghia estate and this has the timing chain, so no cambelt worries or costs.

One of the common faults is clutch dust falling into the starter motor which is created by the dual composite flywheel. When too much dust gets in it the starter motor does not work and needs to be taken out and cleaned. This is ONLY a temporary solution. This occurs more frequently towards the end of the life of the clutch. Only answer is to replace clutch aswell as the flywheel. Approx cost parts and labour £650 NOT cheap.
