How do you sypon sand from a pool filter?

The techinique I have used works pretty well but you have to remove the sand pile. 1) Open drain on bottom of filter. 2) Remove top valve assembly. 3) Remove sand screen from drain valve - needle nose pliers work. 4) Fill filter with water - a sand slurry should start from the drain. 5) Use a rod or screwdriver the periodically clear the drain to keep the flow going. 6) Add water and hose down the sand in the filter as needed. 7) Move the sand away from the drain to keep the flow continuous.

How much paver sand do I need for my project?

To determine how much paver sand you need for your project, calculate the square footage of the area to be covered by the pavers. Then, use a paver sand calculator to determine the amount of sand needed based on the depth of sand required for your project.

Backwashing will not stop even in filter mode?

I had this problem, too. Something is wrong in the valve head of the sand filter. If it is really old, the tension spring that holds the valve down in the selected position may be shot. If there is only a drizzle, the spider gasket that lines this valve may be shot. For my system, I had to saw through a few PVC pipes to free the head of the sand filter. As long as I had it off, I replaced the spring, spider gasket, & sand. Now my pool gets clean much faster (wish I had done this when I moved in.) One other thing: There is a basket-looking item that should be attached to the underside of the valve head. Mine stayed in the sand tank when I removed the head, and I thought that was supposed to be that way. It was not. With it that way, I also had a trickle through the discharge, as well as small debris re-entering the pool via the jets. I found where a screw had eroded away and replaced it, attaching the "basket" to the valve underbody. No more trickle, no more debris. -Chris of Argo

Where should the setting be on a drain valve for an inground pool?

Hmmm, do you possibly mean the back wash valve on the filter? This valve has many positions to choose from especially for sand filters. Filter, back wash, drain, drain to waste, filter bypass, closed. They are pretty much self explanatory. Normal position would be the "filter" position while the pump is running and the filter is working. Ken

Pool pump works on circulate but not on filteration?

THis indicates that the pump is struggling to push water through a dirty bed of sand when on filter. When on recirculate, the water bypasses the sand and flows through the valve back to the pool. Change your sand or run a cleaner through it.
