Goldfish NEED 20 gallons for the first fish and an additional 10 gallons per additional goldfish. So for 3 goldfish you NEED a 40 gallon aquarium with A LOT of filtration.

Your 3 goldfish will be dead soon due to both ammonia poisoning and lack of oxygen.

Since goldfish have primitive gills, they require A LOT of dissolved oxygen in the water. Hence why they do better in unheated aquariums because cold water holds more dissolved oxygen then warm water does.

You need to clean that bowl like 3 times a day. It is cruelty to keep them in there. Goldfish are America's number 1 mistreated and abused pet because people cram them in bowls. When properly cared for goldfish have lifespans of 30 yrs and grow 8-24 inches depending on variety. I have personally seen 14 inch black moors and have a picture of a 15 inch red oranda.

If you want your goldfish tolive then you should move it into a tank of at least 10 gallons. Goldfish are extremely messy so depending on the size of the bowl and the size of the goldfish you may have to clean it as often as everyday! Remember to always use a dechlorinator.However regardless of how big the fish is right now it will be developmentally stunted if not moved into a bigger container/tank.Only betta fish can live in a bowl.

When I got my goldfish my friend who has a Betta and goldfish told me that her fish are BOTH in a bowl and her one just died because it was overfed But she will have them for 2 and a half years in September.

It depends how big it is. If it is a small bowl not even a gallon then it should have it's water changed every day. If it is a larger bowl about 5 gallons it should have it's water changes Avery 2-3 days. It is best that your fish does not live in small bowls unless you have a betta fish. 10 Gallon fish tanks are very cheap and it is a good idea to buy one for your fish if you are just using a bowl.

Contrary to belief, there are absolutely no fish that belong in a 'goldfish bowl' as it's not enough space for a fish to live and thrive.

A goldfish requires at minimum a 20 gallon tank alone; a betta fish should be in at least 5 gallons even though the stores sell them in cups (this is due to not being able to house them together, and not having that sort of tank space).
