Is a mermaid a myth or a legend?

No one is a real mermaid. There are people who think they are, but since mermaids are not real they can't be one. People can not change into a mermaid or other shapes (think how messy that would be). So, no one is a mermaid except for those who are actors or the ones who pretend they are.

There was a show on discovery channel claiming to have potentially discovered the remains of mermaids, however experts state that this is fake and made for TV. The National Oceanic and Atmosphereic Administration released a statement saying, "No evidence of aquatic humanoids has ever been found".

Furthermore, a creature that is half human and half fish would be a contradiction of Biology, and therefore, impossible.

Every magical being besides the original Fae and Witches don't have proof they exist, and in real life, yes, Mermaids ARE giant fish. Dugongs and Manatees are basically mermaids lol. Witches did exist in the 1700s-1800s and fairies exist under the tall grass near swamplands.
