Any surface in a tank that has algae growth is subject to having algae grow on it. Longer hair type algae can be grabbed and pulled off, however this is usually a temporary solution. There are inhabitants one can add to help reduce the growth. Saltwater tank, get a tang, rabbitfish, lawnmower blenny or more snails. Freshwater get pleco, otocinculus or more snails.
