well it depends, if u have a hermit crab that is from a region where there are alot of its natural predators, like: seagulls, carnivorous sea turtles. it is not very normal to have a crab form a place that doesnt have natural predators that does come out at night, but if it is one from a very populated beach then yeah.

Does the baby hermit crabs mold or if they dont come out does that mean they are dead or just scared to come out of there shell?

Well, most hermit crabs do not come out during the day, or when they know you are watching them. to see if they are alive, carefully put your fingewr nail on there claw, or blow on them. If they move it, than they are ok. If it is very stiff, they are still ok. If you can move there claw, yourself, and it is very wiggly, they are not usually alive.

Is it mad if hermit crabs sleep all day?

That depends on what you mean by "sleep." Hermit crabs are nocturnal, which means they usually come out at night. The reason they are nocturnal in their native habitat is because it is too hot for them to come out during the day, though you will see them out and about on overcast days. When hermit crabs are kept in captivity and their conditions are perfect, they will occasionally cease being strictly nocturnal and will roam their cages during the daytime. A hermit crab that stays in its shell, and does not move all winter is probably dead. Winter is a hard time for most hermit crabs, because most hermit crab owners do not understand that hermit crabs must be kept in humid conditions, at temperatures above 75 degrees. When the temperature gets below 65 they start to slow down and will eventually die if they stay cold for too long. If their cage is not humid enough, they will suffocate to death because they require humid air to breathe properly. As a side note, the plastic boxes most places sell as hermit crab cages are TERRIBLE for hermit crabs. A person interested in owning and caring for hermit crabs should be ready to spend at least $50 (preferably more!) on a good home for them, a glass aquarium with a snug-fitting glass lid to hold in humidity, and a reliable heat source.

Does a hermit crab sleep?

Hermit crabs sleep during the day, usually in dark coves and crevices. You will find them hiding under tree limbs, in small cracks in trees, in holes in the sand, in coral, and in rocks and driftwood on the beach.

Do saltwater hermit crabs have an exoskeleton?

Absolutely. Marine hermit crabs (saltwater hermit crabs) also, like the land hermit crab, have a soft abdomen that is not protected by a hard exoskeleton, so they scavenge shells from snails as they grow to wear for protection. The marine hermit crab will also shed it's exoskeleton as it grows. This is a very fast process, taking only a few hours to a day compared to the molting process of the land hermit crab, which can take several days to a few months.

Can a hermit crabs food go bad or ruin?

Yes, you need to change it daily or every other day.

What happens it the hermit crab wont come out of the shell?

It could be because the shell is dirty, to small or searching for a new one. Hermit crabs are always in their shells. Hermit crabs will never leave their shells unless switching. IF your hermit crab is running around without it's shell there is something wrong with it.AnswerThis could be because it has outgrown its shell and is searching for a larger one. A tight-fitting shell stunts the crab's growth, making it easier for a predator to eat it. There is always lots of competition between hermit crabs for their shells. This could also be because the hermit crab is stressed out because of lack of humidity or temp not being right. The hermit crab is vulnerable without his shell so separating him from the others and providing him with tons of shells helps. You can even use the cup method and place the crab gently in a cup with a shell. This helps sometimes.
