Sharks are the top of the food chain in most parts of the ocean. They help humans buy keeping fish/mammal populations in check that can threaten fish species human fish for to eat. The same way killer whales help to protect the Salmon industry by keeping the seal population in check. It all might seem inconsequential but a species of animal (especially marine animals that can reproduce thousands of offspring at a time) that isn't hunted for food can easily get out of control very quickly and have a very negative impact on the oceans - which ultimately affect humans.

Humans and larger sharks will eat gray reef sharks.
