Sounds like high ammonia levels to me. What kind of filtration do you have? If it's too weak for the size of your tank, this may be the cause. A good rule of thumb is to provide a filtration system that is 2x the capacity of your tank, ie...tank+30 gallons, power filter capacity is 60 and above.. GOOD LUCK!
