clean it!!!!!!!!!!! or buy a new toilet. Here is something better than that bogus answer: It's probably sewer gas. If the toilet hasn't been used in awhile (3 or 4 weeks) it shouldn't be a problem. But if you smell it frequently or constantly, call the plumber so he can find out what the problem is. It could just be the wax ring needs replacing.
I go through my house on the 1st & 15th and run the water in all the sinks, tubs and flush the toilets that aren't used often so this won't happen.
