The Great White has a camouflage that is quite common to marine animals. This includes a dark dorsal side (that is difficult to see against the dark backdrop of the deep sea) and a light ventral side (that is easily missed looking up from below into the sun).

However, the Great White has no natural predators. So, it has no natural need to be disguised in its environment. This suggests one of two things: that it may have evolved from a smaller, more preyed upon type of shark, or that it at one point had predators that it must have hidden itself from.
