A protein skimmer uses small bubbles to trap proteins. The bubbles then form foam at the top of the water which can then be removed make the resulting water clean.
A Protein skimmer is a device that take out protein from the water. Meaning, it takes out desolved solid wastes. The ocean has it's own protein skimmer built in: waves hitting the beach. In some more polluted areas you can literally see all the bubbles along the shore or beach. For a reef tank you must have one. For just a fish tank, it is highly recommended to have one.

Geox-TMC ended in 2011.
Geox-TMC was created in 2004.
TMC is a "Thousand Million Cubic Feet" (TMC Feet). The equivalent in liters is 28,316,846,592 liters (2.83 x 107 m3).
Protein skimmers to remove small amounts of water. They create bubbles and this becomes the skimmate. Also, some water remains in the skimmer when it is on. In general people do not have to adjust their water or salinity because of skimmers. It is important to match the size of the tank and the skimmer.
One thousand million cubic feet (TMC) is equivalent to approximately 28,316.8 cubic meters. To convert TMC to feet, you can use the conversion that 1 TMC equals about 35.3147 million cubic feet. Therefore, 1 TMC is roughly 35,314,700 cubic feet.
Did you use some medication in the tank? that can often color the skimmate.
One TMC (thousand million cubic feet) is equivalent to approximately 28.3168 cubic meters per second (cusec). To convert TMC to cusec, you can use the conversion factor: 1 TMC = 28.3168 cusec. Thus, 1 TMC is equal to about 28.3 cusec when considering a time frame of one day.
TMC stands for Thousand Million Cubic Feet and MCM stands for Million Cubic Meter so 1 TMC= 28.31684 MCM and 1MCM = 0.035315MCM
