A weed filled pond
You can tell if a stream is flowing into a pond on a topographic map by looking at the contour lines around the stream and pond. If the contour lines of the stream are crossing over and descending towards the pond, it indicates that the stream is flowing into the pond. Additionally, the elevation values of the contour lines can also help determine the flow direction.

A small, flowing body of freshwater is called a stream. Streams may also be called a: brook, creek, bayou, rivulet, wash, or run.
By my count, there are six ponds/lakes, two streams, and a reflecting pool. There's the Reservoir, the Central Park Lake, the Harlem Meer, the pond at the southeast corner of the park, the pond at West 100th Street, and Turtle Pond. There is a stream flowing through the Ramble, and a stream flowing through the North Woods. The stream flowing through the North Woods is bigger, and it actually ends in a waterfall with a little pool below it, which flows into the Harlem Meer. Then there's the reflecting pool by the bronze Alice in Wonderland statue.

To build a natural stream pond, you can start by selecting a suitable location with access to water flow and sunlight. Dig out a pond shape, create a stream channel leading to it, and line the pond with a flexible liner. Add rocks, plants, and other natural elements to create a habitat for wildlife. Ensure proper filtration and circulation to maintain water quality.
The best way would be to find a spot with very sandy soil so that water can percolate easily from the surface down into the aquifer. Then build a big pond over that spot. Keep the pond filled with water from rainwater or from a river or stream. As lots of water goes down into the aquifer from your pond, the water table in your well should rise.
