He's probably sick. Bettas get very stressed by being kept in a bowl. Bettas, like most other fish, like to swim around. A single betta needs a 6-10 gallon tank with a heater and filter for optimum health. Plants and caves make it more interesting for him and a couple of rasboras might work, depending on his aggressive tendencies. They can't be kept with other bettas, but do appreciate tank mates if they have room. The red ones tend to be more aggressive. If he is aggressive, he will not do well with other fish unless he's in at least a 30 gallon tank. People tend to think they don't live long, but if they have enough room, clean water, and consistent temperature, they will be much less stressed and can live for a lot longer than expected.
Oh, dude, anything is possible in the fish world. Like, bettas are known to be pretty chill fish, so if one decides it wants to hang out at the bottom of the tank for a bit, who are we to stop it? As long as it's not doing the fish equivalent of binge-watching Netflix down there, I'd say let it do its thing.
Yes a Betta can go to the bottom of a tank and stay there for quite some considerable time. The length of time the fish would be capable of remaining before surfacing and taking a breath of air would vary depending on various factors including temperature of the water.
No. all fish need fins to swim. Or they would just stay at the bottom of the tank and die.
it depends i have a male with a female betta, in a 2.5 gallon tank, they get along, i wouldnt risk it, no
They breathe through their nose which is on the top of their head. They have lungs and are mammals like us. They usually stay down for 45 seconds. But sometimes stay down for minutes. When they breathe, a shower of mist comes up from their blowhole. The blowhole is their nose.
no because male betta's are really aggressive to other betta's which plakats are male's. but female betta's can stay with other females. don't try to, one of your betta's are going to end up dead.
The male will try to spawn with her. If she is not in breeding condition she needs to hide to stay alive.
do not do this but it can stay in the wild without food for a week
Stay down bottom of screen for 15 seconds!!
Yes they can but not betta fish.I (I hope this helps to all of you.)
Stay out of trouble.
well, I'm a beginner. I have had a male betta in a 5lt jar for 2 months and added an opaline/blue gourami to it, of almost the same size. The same day, the gourami suddenly was super swift, swam around like a maniac, spurted out immense bubbles, dug into the betta's well-established nest. While doing this, it would fall towards the bottom upside down and then get back to life with a repeat action (of the above). We loved these stunts. All this while, the betta would stay to a corner on the surface. And then the gourami lay between the pebbles. After say about 5 minutes, I tried moving (I could only think that it was asleep) but it had passed out. And my betta was relatively more active after the other was removed.
