Bannock is a variety of flat bread that can be made quickly. It is made from:-

Water mixed with

  • 1 cup flour (white or a mixture of white and whole wheat)
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 cup dry milk powder
  • 1 tbsp. shortening (fat)
to make a stiff dough.

This is usually baked in a cast iron pan against an open fire until the loaf looks cooked and sounds hollow when tapped.
