Potato Flakes, in of themselves, are gluten-free. However, depending upon other added ingredients, they may have gluten contamination. Not only can that gluten contamination be from other ingredients, but can also be from processing equipment. If the facility processes wheat, etc, there can be contamination.
Check out Bob's Red Mill Potato Flakes which is manufactured in a facility that also uses tree nuts, soy, wheat and milk.
No Butterfingers are not gluten free. They contain corn flakes which contain gluten. Therefore they are not gluten free. Actually the corn flakes they use are gluten free http://www.specialtyproductsinc.net/ Butterfingers are listed by Nestle's gluten free candy list. Corn gluten is not believed to be a problem for people on gluten-free diets.

It depends. You'd have to read the ingredient section of the label to see if any of the ingredients have gluten in them. Generally, if the label says the product is gluten free, it is gluten free.
Potatoes alone do not contain gluten. Depending on what is added to make the "mashed potatoes" they should still be gluten-free eg. often milk and butter or margarine is added and this is gluten free. If for any reason a flour is added made from wheat barley rye or oats - this will then add gluten. NB: most hash-browns have a flour containing gluten added to make the exterior coating. (A corn flour or flour from maize is still gluten-free however).
I will never drink it again...only potato vodka for me...learned a lesson the hard way...
Desiccated coconut is dried coconut that is shaved into flakes. Neither desiccated coconut or coconut oil contain gluten, and can be used in a gluten-free diet.
