The eye can stop seeing if you go blind. Fish can't close their eyes because they don't have eye lids (exception to some sharks) to close them with.
a fish never closes its eyes
Eye lids
they sherwim to the bottom of the lake or sea close one eye while the other watches for preditors.
Fish don't have eye lids, so they never close. But there are exceptional fishes like the Sharks do have eyelids to protect their eyes!

Because they are just that cool. And they have those kind of skills.
Aphid fish are the smallest type of fish that can be seen by the naked eye (bare eye-no glasses or microscope).
The purpose of the eyelid is to keep the eye moist. Fish live in water, and so the eye does't need moistening, and so fish don't have eyelids. Thus they sleep with their eyes open because they have no way to close them. For Starters, fish don't sleep, but they do go into a resting period. If fish slept they would not close their eyelids because they don't have any!Thank you
