Can a goldfish be kept in a sealed jar?

yes but you still need to clean the jar,feed them and give it all the care it neds it also depends how big the jar is...little ones depend on how big the fish is they rather have a normal size jar also little ones dont like it to big and big fish dont like it to small

It will live until either the water becomes too toxic from excess Ammonia or the oxygen runs out. Death by Ammonia poisoning is the most likely. For any fish to live in captivity it must have its water treated biologically by a permanently running cycled filter to remove Ammonia and there must be at least 6 square inches of surface area exposed to the atmosphere (air) per 1 inch of fish for the transpiration of Oxygen and Carbon-di-oxide. Then every week at least 50% of the water should be replaced to prevent a build up of Nitrite.

Fish need air in the water to breath, not just going to the surface to breath. If they consume all the air in the water, eventually they will run out, and die. That's why most tanks have a system installed to allow air molecules to filter into the water, to give the fish the air they need - and not run out.

Absolutely not. A goldfish needs at least a 15 gallon tank with no other tank mates. Anything smaller is harmful, and the goldfish will not grow to it's fully potential
