Yes, but can only be sure of the difference by listening to their calls. Can't really do it from a photo. The female (hen) goes 'buck-wheat, buck-wheat', as its unique call which males (cocks) can't do, but both birds can do another one, which is 'chi, chi chi'. For females this is an alert call, males a general call. Both can also do a trill but they do the same thing so don't worry about that.
