Platties are tropical fish and they rely on the temperature of the water to keep their metabolism going. If their water gets too cool, their organs will simply shut down and you will have dead fish. Proper temperature for Platties is about 70F

Are platy sensitive?

Platies are generally not a sensitive species of fish. The only time when they can be sensitive is when they breed or when the water quality in their aquarium is extremely bad. Platy fry, or baby platies, can also be quite sensitive for the first few weeks after birth. To prevent sensitivity in platies, keep your water crystal clear and keep the best water quality you possibly can. This includes: 1) Keeping the pH the way platies prefer. This is neutral to slightly alkaline, from about 7.2 to 8.2. 2) Changing the water regularly. Change, at the very least, thirty percent of the water in the tank weekly. 3) Watching the ammonia and nitrite levels. Keep these at zero, and check these levels every two weeks or so. 4) Keeping the temperature the way they like it. This is from the mid seventies to eighty degrees Fahrenheit. From personal experience, I would recommend 75-77 degrees Fahrenheit. 5) Checking to make sure they have proper filtration. Purchase an appropriate filter that will thoroughly clean your tank and help your platies live happily. 6) Doing your homework. Research, research, research! Research as much as you can on your pets to ensure that they live happy lives.

What types of fish can be with platies?

Platies are peaceful fish that can coexist with a variety of fish species. Good tank mates for platies include other peaceful community fish such as swordtails, mollies, guppies, tetras, and peaceful bottom dwellers like Corydoras catfish. It is important to consider the size of the tank and the compatibility of the fish in terms of water parameters and behavior before adding them to the tank with platies.

When a submarine pups water out of its floatation tanks its density decreases and it floats why does its density decrease?

When the tanks are full of water they force O2 out of the tanks. Once the tanks empty out the water they will fill with gasses that in the water such as O2 or Co2. These gasses are palpably less dense than water so the submarine rises. I hope that helps.
