Can there be a huge bump on a male betta fish?

It could possibly be a few things....

1.Its a female and this is known as the egg spot.

2.It has a infection (bacterial or parasitic) under its skin that should be treated.

3.A small white dot could be ich, also will need meds.

4.Or it could be a birth defect of some sort.

If the "bumps" are red and angry looking your fishes water is putrid and you are killing the fish by neglect. If the lumps are just like ripples there is nothing to worry about. Check what follows and see if you are doing things right for your Betta. 1 Betta needs at least 3 gallons of water kept at 78F (despite what the uninformed say). It should have a permanently running cycled filter and it also needs to have at least 50% of its water replaced every week.

your fish may be bloated. is it on his belly? if so he is either fat or bloated. feed him cooked peas chopped up and hopefully it will go away

It could mean that you are over-feeding your fish. A male betta fish only needs to be feed about 3 times a week.
