Apple snails are not called apple snails because they eat apples. They are called Apple Snails because of their size. True apple snails (Pomacea canaliculata) can grow up to 5" in Dia. Nontheless Apple Snails can eat apples.

An Aquatic Snail is an Decomposer
A snail that lives in water.
The proper name for a water snail is an aquatic snail.
It may be best to feed a land snail leftover crops or vegetables. Snails also eat plankton, algae, and other aquatic microorganisms too, so you may want to provide your pet snail in a moist environment.
no apples are good but feed it to them in chunks and don't feed it apples everyday
Slowly.
I have a large apple snail, about a baseball size. I feed it only with Romain lettuce. It survives well.
I never specifically feed my black mystery snail. I feed the fish and just figure the snail will get it's food from the algae growing in the aquarium. I've had the snail over a year without a problem. It just hatched out about 50 babies too, so it seems to be doing well.
For a water snail You will need to do a weekly 20% water change or your snail will die of ammonia poisoning. Occasionally (once every month or so) vacuum the bottom to clean up the waste that the snail produces. Also feed it lettuce or apples or carrots (washed well in warm water) and remove the uneaten food in 24 hours. For a land snail no you will not if you have a dirt bottom. Also feed it the same veggies and remove the uneaten food after 48 hours. Feed both types of snails cuttle bone or eggshells for calcium to develop a healthy shell. Good luck!
