A small species of sunfish would likely be alright in a 50 gallon, however many species of sunfish get quite large, on the order of 8 to 10 inches long, and would be too large for a 50 gallon aquarium.

A 50 watt heater is major over kill for a 3 gallon tank, a 10 watt heater is more than enough for a tank that size. You will nuke your aquarium very quickly the first time the 50 watt heater sticks on, with a 10 watt heater if it sticks on the aquarium temp will only raise a degree or two.

If it's 16" deep (from the wall to the front edge) then you hope it'll hold a 50-gallon tan. The tank weighs around 50 pounds if glass, 30 if acrylic. And 50 gallons of water weighs... 8 pounds a gallon... 400 pounds. So altogether, around 450 pounds, you hope.

No species of fish will live for long in a tiny little container. Please read the following basic rules of fish keeping and follow them. :- 1 inch of fish needs a minimum of 1 gallon of water. :- Every fish tank needs a continuously running cycled filter. :- Every fish tank needs at least 50% of its water replaced every week. If you follow the above rules you will have few problems keeping fish healthy. If you fail in any of them I can guarantee that your fish will constantly be getting sick and dying.
