Chocolate comes from the Americas. The Mayans use to dry and roast the seeds then afterwards they would mix it with chilies and make an unsweetened drink.

When the Spanish arrived, they didn't like chocolate but traded it anyway. A century or so later, someone decided to toss some sugar in with it and the rest is history!
