They are made by a different company with different employees in a different state, so there's a very good chance that the recipes have been changed. Not to mention the suppliers and/or the quality of the ingredients. There's only one of their items that I like (Chocolate Toffee) and I think it has changed, too, not for the better.
I am writing this in 11/2011. I use to be a shopper of Fannie Farmer candies in Detroit. I have since lived in Texas for years and have not seen the candy again. BUT, on SDillards.com they are liasitng a 3# box of Fannie Farmer candies for 19.99. I ordered three boxes. Zmeanwhile, I also googled Fannie Farmer and found it id no longer in business under that name. In 2001 it was bought out? Filed chapter 11? 7? and the name was changed. to Fannie Mae. Now I am curious as to where Dillards got this boxed candy with the name of Fannie Farmer on them. Dillards does not know. Am I getting OLD boxes of candy? I called a retail store of Fannie Mae's Candies and they do not have a clue about this fannie farmer candy as name changes were years ago. I will wait and see what this candy looks like and smells like when it arrives. Dillards is aware they may get it all back. These are christmas gifts.
