Most of the Pizza toppings would not contain gluten. Gluten is a protein found in multiple grains including wheat, barley, rye, and some oats (although there is a debate about oats -- gluten in oats may be largely due to contamination). Pepperonis, cheese, tomato sauces, spices, none of those have gluten. The major problem with pizza is the crust -- what is it made of? Flour! Where does the flour come from? Wheat. So, pizza crusts are the source of gluten in pizzas. If someone is gluten sensitive or intolerant (celiac), then you cannot even pick off toppings to eat them because they have been contaminated by contact with the crust.

There is a solution -- make your own gluten free pizza crust at home using mixes that are available in many stores or buy a GF (gluten free) crust (usually frozen) at a store, take it home and bake a pizza with it. Just make sure that the ingredients you use as toppings are not contaminated by contact with other possible sources of gluten in the kitchen.
