This is an old farmers remedy for wounds, and was used before antibacterials were readily available. There is no need to torture the wounded chicken with acid. It you feel you need to treat the bird with a cleansing/antibacterial solution use Hydrogen Peroxide. Cheap and available anywhere.

If you are talking about feeding them vinegar then yes, 4 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in one gallon of water is a good remedy for respiratory ailments. It breaks up congestion. This should not be used for more than 7 days.
