Who Wants to Be a MillionaireMillionaire is a show that allows people to win $1,000,000 by answering 15 correct multiple choice questions on a variety of topics. Millionaire is now in it's 7th season, and is currently hosted by Meredith Vieira. During your game you get 3 lifelines to use, Phone-A-Friend, Ask the Audience, and Double Dip, and then once you reach $1000 you will earn the 4th lifeline which is Ask the Expert. The Expert is revealed during the show, and usually remains throughout the week.Who Wants to Be a Millionaire was originally hosted by Regis Philbin in the Primetime Series from 1999-2002 and was 1 Hour in length. Once the primetime series was cancelled, a syndicated version was started immediately with a couple of changes. There was no more fastest finger question, and there was a new host which was Meredith Vieira, also the game is now only 30 Minutes in length. She has hosted the show for 7 years now (2002-Present). When Regis was host he would always call the show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," however Meredith never uses this, and simply refers to the game as "Millionaire."There have been 11 Million Dollar Winners in the 10 years it's been running. 9 winners in the Regis version (4 years), and 2 winners in the Meredith version (7 years). It has been a long time since there was a last Million Dollar Winner. The last winner was Nancy Christy which was way back on May 8th 2003. She is also the only girl winner in the U.S. Version.
The last person to win a million dollars on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" in the United States was Kevin Smith, who achieved this milestone on November 19, 1999. Since then, there have been various international versions of the show, but the U.S. version has not had a million-dollar winner in its later iterations. The show has undergone several revivals and changes over the years.

Yes I believe there have been 5 £1 million winners on the UK version. The first was Judith Keppel. It can be done but it's not meant to be easy.
