There is no known, reliable cure for a fish with a swim bladder problem. You can spend a fortune buying chemicals and medications from a pet shop that "claim" to fix everything including swim bladder problems. In my 60 years of experience I have never ever found one that works and I believe you would be wasting your money. I would euthanise the fish and then make sure that I looked after my fishes water conditions better in future. Bad water conditions are what cause the problem in the first place. The basic rules of sucessfull fishkeeping are. :- 1 inch of fish needs at least 1 gallon of water, :- Every tank should have a permanently running cycled filter. :- Every tank needs to have at least 50% of its water replaced every week. Follow the rules and you can be sucessfull. Fail in any of them and I can guarantee you regular failure until you do follow the rules.

What is a cure for a goldfish that can't sink?

If your goldfish is struggling to go down to the bottom of the tank it has a swim bladder problem. There are those who advise a slow raising (up to 80F) and then lowering (down to 55F) of the temperature of the water over about two days for this problem. There are also commercially available "cure alls" that pet shops will happily recommend and sell you. In over 50 years of fish keeping I have yet to see either the temperature manipulation or any of the expensive medications work and fix a swim bladder problem. In my experience the fish will eventually die so I would euthanase it.

What medication is given to a fish with swim bladder?

I believe there are some meds available that "CLAIM" to treat swim bladder problems. From my experience, I have found those claims to be false and I know of no one who has found any reliable cure for swim bladder problems. Gentle raising and lowering of the water temp has also been reputed to work in some instances.

Why does my angelfish swim with mouth pointing upwards?

If it seems that the fish is attempting to swim upwards your fish has a swim bladder problem. Your fish will die from this eventually. Pet stores may well attempt to sell you something to fix this. IMO you would be wasting your money. I would destroy/euthanase the fish.

How can i help my goldfish without buying products to fix the red bubbles on it's forehead?

Ask an expert. It could be a sign that your gold-fish is sick. Never go on wiki-answers for a medical problem. Its not a good idea.

Can you put novaqua in your goldfish tank?

You can put it in there but why should you? Are your goldfish sick? Are they in need of medication? I am of the opinion that the less chemicals added to a fishes water the better the water is bound to be. Why add chemical solutions and try to fix something that is not broken?

Why is goldfish staying at the bottom of the tank and not swimming around. he is eating.?

There are several things that can cause a goldfish to sit at the bottom. One reason for this is if your goldfish has an internal bacterial infection;the outcome for this, if left untreated, is usually dropsy and eventually death. However there are several ways to affectively treat this: one way is to feed the fish a medicated food, the food should contain antibiotics, (most medicated foods sold at petstores do not contain antibiotics that are actually affective against bacterial infections, ) however one medicated food known to work well (and has three affective antibiotics) is "medi-gold"(goldfish medicated food). A second way to treat a bacterial infection is antibacterial injections, this method however should only be performed by a piscine vet. Goldfish may also sit at the bottom if they are suffering from an infestations of flukes(a microscopic flatworm). Almost all goldfish that are purchased have flukes and usually are immune to the parasite until their slime coat (immune system) is damaged or if they are stressed. An affective way to treat flukes is using one of the following: formalin, potassium permganate,Droncit, or fluketabs. Lastly one other cause for a goldfish to sit at the bottom would be if the goldfish has a deformed swimbladder; either the swimbladder did not form right or is full of water instead of air. Usually the only way to correct this is by consulting a piscine vet to surgically fix the swim bladder.
