Often reptile aquariums are made of thinner glass and are not designed to hold water. However, if the aquarium is just a general aquarium, then it a simple matter of cleaning out the tank (in a bath tub is where I do it), and then adding some equipment. You will need a stand that can support the weight of the tank and water. You will also need a filter, a hang on the back filter will probably suffice if the tank is relatively small. You will need aquarium gravel, and a heater as well. You may also need to get a new light or hood, depending on what you had on the tank originally. I've found shopping online to be the least expensive way to upgrade, and I love www.bigalsonline.com for their price and selection.
