The way I like is to slice the Pears thinly, lengthwise. Take one of those large, flatfaced house fans, and lay it on its side, propped up so the intake side is not lying flat on the countertop (best to use a new fan for this to avoid old dust). Lay the pear slices on a grill and place the grill over the top of the output side of the fan. You can stack grill in layers up to about 7 or 8 high. Cover with mosquito netting to keep it clean. Let it run for 18-24 hours or more, checking every so often. Soon you'll have a nice batch of dried pears. Store in a cool, clean, dry place. Depending on how effectively you dehydrated them, they can keep for quite a while.
Several examples of dehydrated foods are apples, bannanas, and pears.
