Hamsters will need a bit of time adjusting to new food like most pets do, unless they aren't picky. My suggestion is that you should still feed them what you use now, but gradually add more of the new food over time into the old to give them time to get used to it.
Do this for a few weeks until finally giving them just the new food by itself. Hopefully, by then they should be so used to eating it that they don't mind it.

Don't let the hamster out of it's cage. To a cat, a hamster is prey. A food source.
If you're all out of hamster food (I suggest you get some soon), you can feed your hamster carrots, lettuce, any vegetable. Stay away from foods other than this. You don't want to take any risks with your hamster. Also, you don't know if your hamster has any serious allergies. At all costs, do what I said. But, if you can help it, get some more hamster food! It's the easy and safe route to go.
Almost every pet store out there carries hamster food. I believe even wal-mart carries it.
