How does a gold fish's pregnancy work?

Goldfish are egg laying fish, and as such do not actually get pregnant. If there is a male in the tank, and the female is full of eggs, the male may chase her to try & get her to release the eggs, but otherwise, her behaviour doesn't really change.

It doesn't. Goldfish are egg layers so they don't get pregnant. In spring time the female goldfish sprays her eggs amongst the plants at the surface of the water. The male than sprays his sperm over them to fertilise them. The babies (fry) develop in about 3-4 days if they are not eaten and have to survive on their own.
