Sandwiches can also be made with rolls or baguettes sliced horizontally, and all types of sandwich bread may be toasted as desired. The bread may be buttered or dressed with a variety of spicy condiments. Sandwich fillings are usually savory, often combining sliced meats with slices of cheese, lettuce leaves, sliced pickles, etc. Other common fillings are cold meat or fish salads, which are typically accompanied by fresh greens.
