If you're cooking the lobster tail on the grill, I've found you get the best results of you grill it meat-side down for 4-5 minutes, then turn it over and cook for another 2-3 minutes. The lobster is done when it becomes opaque.
Turn them upside-down, split them down the middle from head to end of tail, take out the tomalley (the green stuff). Combine tomalley with soda crackers and garlic butter. Stuff the lobster with the mixture. Wrap the claws (individually) with tinfoil, the tail with tinfoil, then the body with tinfoil Bake at 400 for about 15-20 minutes (stuffing will brown, body will turn red). Enjoy!
You can find how to cook a live lobster by getting a cookbook that is based on seafood. There are also cooking classes that you could take that you might be able to learn how to do this.

Don't cook them when they are still alive. If you take a chef's french knife and put where the tail and the body come together and insert and cut down through head...it kills them almost instantly...yes, I know, crude, but consider the alternative.
it takes at less 3 to 4 hors to cook
