Personally, I don't time the things I cook, I look at its color. For broccoli, you usually cook it until it is green and tender. If you cook it for slightly longer, it will turn a brownish hue and mushy. It is also good idea to cook broccoli for a shorter time on higher heat so the outer edges are slightly singed. Also, one should put cheese at the very end since a concentration gradient will induce diffusion of water from the broccoli.

Generally speaking, about 15-20 minutes depending on the heat.
