Well, the average weight for an uncooked potato is 375 grams. I am assuming you mean metric tonne. y = the unknown amount of potatoes.

1 potato = 0.375

y potatoes = 40000

y = 40000/0.375

y=106666.67

Therefore there are approximately 106667 potatoes in 40 tonnes.
