I planted some strawberries. The instructions said, space every 3 feet. I ignored them, but I shouldn't have. Strawberry plants put off runners which become new plants. So on a 4 foot row, you could start with two plants. Within months, plants will fill in the row. I used Everbearing Strawberries. They have a spring and also a smaller fall harvest. You could put 3 rows in a 4 foot space - one in the middle and two on the edge. On a 4x4 bed, you may not need rows. You could reach in from any side. When picking strawberries, if the tip is white then it is not ready. It needs to ripen another day.

Potting mix. It grows more and makes it taste better if it's organic. Have fun growing!
The domestic use of a 4ft bed is primarily to sleep on. A bed which is 4 ft in length would be comfortable only for children or adults who are quite short. A bed of 4 ft width with a standard 6-7 ft length would be extremely comfortable to sleep in and give plenty of space for moving around in as well.
Strawberries should be planted about 12-18 inches apart in a raised bed to ensure optimal growth and yield.
Small ones are four feet wide; standard is 4ft six inches
You can prevent strawberries from touching the ground by using mulch, straw, or a raised bed to keep them elevated and protected.

size of a standard double bed is 4ft 6inch wide 6ft 6inch long and a floor clearance of 12-14 inches
To effectively remove wild strawberries from your flower bed, you can manually pull them out by hand, making sure to remove the roots as well. You can also use a garden tool like a trowel to dig out the plants. Applying a layer of mulch can help prevent the strawberries from growing back.
That's the standard double bed width in the UK. Anything bigger has a fancy name and you would do well to measure the dimensions.
