Six laying hens typically consume about 3 to 4 pounds of feed per day. This amount can vary based on factors such as the hens' age, breed, and the type of feed provided. Additionally, they may supplement their diet with kitchen scraps and forage if they have access to the outdoors. It's important to ensure they have constant access to fresh water as well.
NO. It would be counter productive to supply an appetite suppressant to laying hens. The whole idea of feeding the hens laying mash is to have them produce better quality eggs not get them to eat less.
The hens will rejoice!! Hens like fruit of any kind. They will eat the skins of most fruit also but seldom citrus. The flesh of the fruit is fair game for them however and they get good nutrients from citrus. My hens eat oranges, grapefruit and even lemons.
i think that they pretty smart and then where are you going to get eggs to eat from.Thats why is important. BY: keyla Medrano
A prime pullet in healthy egg laying condition will eat 3.5 to 5 ounces of feed per day. There will be some loss to scratching and the hen, if free range will seek out other sources of food which could reduce its intake. They will eat vegetation and bugs they find in the farmyard.
Hens like to eat grains.
no
the hens are the best to eat ..
Hens eat just about everything. They love greens and seeds, bugs and flies. The eat fruit and vegetables. It is best to feed them a nutritious mix of grain and protein matter called laying mash or laying pellets and that is available from feed stores but they will survive on forage and table scraps.
Feed design to meet the requirements of laying hens. Usually higher in energy levels, protein w/ certain amino acids increased to meet higher need and increased mineral levels especially Ca. It is ok for male bird and non laying hens to eat for short periods of time and also it is a waste of money to feed these expensive feeds to non laying birds.
I do not eat hens or roosters.
No The laying mash or pellets are fine for the rooster. There really is no way to stop the rooster from eating the same things you feed the hens other than keeping them separated. My hens are fed laying crumble all year long and the roosters thrive on it.
no but some big hens
