So old they aren't technically babies anymore. You should never handle them before they're weaned.
12-14 days after birth
No! They need to stay with the mother until they are weaned at about 21 days (for dwarf hamsters) and 28 days for syrian's. They need that time with their mothers.
When they open their eyes.
are your hamsters currently on their mother? hamsters repreduce milk and so maybe your hamsters are just drinking her milk. from kennedyage 11
When they are about 1 month old.
No, they can only drink their mother's milk.
Dwarf hamsters must be 4 weeks of age to be picked up, do NOT touch the babys at all before then or the mother will "protect" her young by eating her baby.
I don't particully know where you live, but for me, at petco they sell baby dwarf hamsters for just 18.99. hope this helps! ps. this is from my experiance. i am 10, and that's why i can't spell these words. also, this is what i saw from when i got my three dwarf hamsters snowy, zipper, and pepsi.
A baby dwarf hamster can be as small as your fist or smaller.since their so small you have to watch them so carefully because they van hide in very small places
I wouldn't suggest it, the hamster might not harm them, but I wouldn't take the risk. We've had mice killed by hamsters, and even by their own mother. Not a pretty picture, so I wouldn't try it until the mice are older.
Never. Grabbing implies you are handling roughly, which should never be done to any animal let alone a baby one. If you are talking about handling baby hamsters then providing you do so carefully and in full view of the parent then this can be done carefully from 2 weeks onwards.
Talking from experience: they get easily irritable, they fight with other hamsters, they eat A LOT. You won't actually get to see the baby bump until the last week or so.
