In 1851, Jacob Fussell in Baltimore established the first large-scale commercial ice cream plant. He had a surplus of cream so he build and ice cream factory in Seven Valleys, Pennsilvania, and shipped it to Baltimore on a train. Buisness boomed, and Fussell became the father of the wholesale ice cream industry. Hope this helped (:

Who invented the first ice cream machine?

In 1846, a gal by the name of Nancy Johnson patented a hand-cranked freezer that established the basic method of ice cream making still in use today. William Young patented the similar "Johnson Patent Ice Cream Freezer" later in 1848. These were some of the earliest examples of ice cream makers available to the general public. Commercial ice cream makers began to appear in the late 18th, early 19th century, when advances in refrigeration technology made the concept more feasible and the ice cream product began to rise in popularity.
