Harvey Milk was not only a politician, but an extraordinary man and visionary as well. He lead those all around the country from his post in San Fransisco to equal treatment of all, regardless of race, gender or sexual orientation. Milk was a believer in the notion that an everyday man could make a difference. He exemplified this by resisting Proposition 6, which was a political movement to restrict gay teachers from working in the school system. For this revolutionary thinking and open attitude he was shot and killed by fellow politician Dan White. Though he held office for less than a year, Milk's contributions and leadership continue to make their mark today through the lives he impacted.
