I recently wrote to Mars inc regarding their chocolates but they also mentioned about their ice-cream. Part of their letter is as below:

I do not see why not. Cream is not a meat but simply a product of a live animal.

It depends on what type of vegetarian you are. Some vegetarians, and all vegans, refrain from any dairy. If you are a vegetarian that only refrains from meat products, then ice cream should be fine for you. Make sure it doesn't contain gelatin.

Some brands of ice cream that claim they are slow churned or ultra creamy but healthier than regular ice cream use the blood from fish to create the smooth texture with less fat.

They are Vegetarian, even the marshmallows are. And they use free range eggs.
The biggest ice cream seller in the UK, Walls
uses whey that contains animal rennet.... hence not vegetarian. Walls Ice cream was set up to use the by products of Wall sausage manufacture, however these days they use vegetable fat...but animal rennet in the whey.
