Almost certainly. The place has long seen the discovery of Native American artifacts and relics of former cultures. To its east stood the Clark family estate--Clark of Lewis and Clark--and numerous Native American encampments were established there as the tribes negotiated to turn over land to the United States government. The gathering place Council Grove still exists.
