It is like a bone that protects the crab.
Shell fish are more like hermit crabs living in a shell, crayfish are like mini lobsters....Crayfish, Shellfish, Jellyfish and Silverfish are not real fish! The answer is NO.
Yes, there are more in your pants!
what it looks like is a naked hermit crab so if your hermit crab isn't picking it shell for almost a day get more changing shells so if your hermit crab is naked don't worry just give them some time
Well, It protects the cell as it main job, and also gives it some shape, but the rigid cell walls of the cell also keep the plant sturdy, but in that case, it would be like more of a hard shell of a crab, which keeps it safe and gives it structure.
It means the crab has outgrown its shell home and is looking for a bigger one. You can find more shells at most pet stores.
Like all shell-bearing creatures, a hermit crab also sheds its shell when it has grown too big to fit it. In the place of the old shell, a new shell has already started growing. The hermit crab has a very soft abdomen or 'tail' as it is generally referred to. It is folded under the body. Nevertheless the shell of the hermit crab does not protect its tail as is the case with all other crabs. After shedding its old shell, the hermit crab keeps the empty shell with itself taking full utility of it as a portable shelter, which could come in handy, if it has to fight with another crab for a more attractive home. This leads to situations sometimes where the homeseeker crab actually succeeds in kicking the original homeowner out of the home and instead eats it up and takes over the shell. The claws of the hermit crab are not equal in size. One of the claws is always bigger than the other one. Having a spiral shaped abdomen, the hermit crab moves in and out of the shell with a stride that is virtually spiral. Well, hermit crabs look like a crab in a shell. they have 2 claws, one big one for defence, one small one for scavenging or eating.they have antenea that shoot around like an insects if the animal is healthy.4 legs I think all around the same size.
The reason your hermit crab is staying in its shell is because... 1. When it sees you it will quickly go into its shell for protection. 2. They like to come out at night more then the day. 3. It is in the wrong environment. 4. It will only come out if there is food or water.
If the crab is not poisonous and it is a big crab you can boil it in a pot for about 30 mins then they are delisious p.s it is better to boil the crab in its shell bye
*Leave it. This is normal behaviour; if the crab thinks the shell is too small for it, it gets out and finds a bigger one. It knows what it needs to, and will, do more than you do. * NEVER FORCE A HERMIT CRAB OUT OF A SHELL IT KNOWS WHAT IT WANTS*
it didn't like the new shell do not worry it's happens a lot! get some more shells they're very picky but a lot of fun
Advantages: With a shell, the hermit crab is safer from predators, or any other threats. It is basically more protected. The snails have less shells lying around because a hermit crab is probably constantly looking for a new one. Disadvantages: The snail's shell is heavy on the hermit crab's back, so it slows it down. A hermit crab outgrows its shell and will have to find a new one soon. The snail has no disadvantages. I hope I helped you! Sorry if this isn't what you were looking for! :)
hermit crabs are very pickey about there new domane or house put more than one shell in the cage.:)
