I was going to find out myself this summer. While spearfishing I shot one thinking I would take it home and throw him on the grill. I never made it to shore with the carcass. It stunk up my cooler so bad on the boat that I fed him to the sharks. If you get a chance to eat one... come back here and let us know how he tasted. I will bet it's nasty.
YES...everyone talks smack about this fish in south Florida because they're all over the place and they steal bait while bottom fishing. The Cubans call the Chopa Mojonera or the defecating chub because they tend to defecate after you catch them. They are also very strong smelling. I filleted them, cut out the blood line, cut them up in nuggets, dusted them in flour, egg, then bread crumbs and fried them. They were as good if not better than any "fish" and chips you'd get at a restaurant. In fact my 10 year old son and his friend, both picky eaters, couldn't get enough.
Edible but mediocre at best.
You can definitely eat it. I've made fish chowders and stews as well as jerk seasoning the chubb on the stove top.
No, a humpback chub is not a mammal. It is a fish.
Chub Fuddling was a profession... apparently people used to be employed to lace the fishing waters with something (I dont know what!) to kill the chub (predatory fish) and make it easier to fish trout.
All.
A humpback chub is a fish, a relatively rare type found in the Colorado River.

yeah if your in a survival situation. creek chub is not a good tasting fish. but you can always try grilling it or something idk
There is no official record for the largest creek chub, as they are not typically a species that is targeted for angling due to their small size and lack of popularity as a sport fish. Creek chub are typically small fish that rarely exceed 10-12 inches in length.
yes they are
