According to data from McCance & Widdowson's The Composition of Foods (6th Summary edition), there is approximately 0.7-0.8g protein per 100g lettuce. According to the data in the book, this is an average taken over five types of lettuce. In terms of reliability, McCance & Widdowsons is the UK Food Standards Agency's formal reference guide for nutritional data and is a standard reference source for the food industry here. Hope this helps. Ben
protein
lettuce is a carbohydrate. Lettuce is truly a low-carb food.
It depends on how you measure it. If you go by the amount of food, regular ground beef has 14.35 grams of protein in 100 grams, whereas lettuce has 1.36 grams of protein per 100 grams. But for each 100-calorie serving, regular ground beef provides 4.3 grams of protein. By comparison, a 100-calorie serving of green leaf lettuce contains 9.06 grams. So lettuce provides the most protein per calorie. That's good to remember if you're watching your weight.Another view:To disregard calories, and go with nutrition by gram weight, meat (or fish) is an excellent source of protein. Lettuce has almost no protein to speak of. To eat enough lettuce to equal fish in protein would make your stomach explode. Lettuce is a very good source of vitamins and minerals. It is a lousy source for protein.
Lettuce and celery
Lettuce is primarily composed of water, with minimal amounts of carbohydrates, fiber, and protein. It is not a significant source of lipids (fats).
If there is any protein at all, it would be a negligable amount.
sorry but carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, cabbage contain no sugar and very little or no starch.
IS THERE IRON IN LETTUCE? No there isn't iron in brown lettuce because it is rotten. When it is rotten the iron appears to escape from the lettuce because the lettuce is no longer fresh enough to eat.
For all practical purposes the answer is no. If you mean to ask if fish are harmed by lettuce, they are not. If you mean to ask if fish will eat lettuce, the answer is no for virtually all fish, but I would not be terribly surprised if there were a few species that would eat lettuce. Fish are generally not vegetarians. Even those that consume plant food would want something with more carbohydrate or protein than lettuce.
fish, by a long way
Some Lizards do yes, most lizards are omnivores like us so they require greens, veggies and protein. Lettuce isn't the best though because it's mostly water and doesn't have the nutrients that the lizard needs. Spinach and collard greens are the best.
Well, darling, in dried lettuce you'd find the same substances as in fresh lettuce, just in a more concentrated form - water, fiber, vitamins (like A and K), and minerals (like potassium and calcium). So, if you're looking for a crunchy way to get your nutrients, dried lettuce might just be your jam. Just don't expect it to taste as good as a fresh salad, honey.
