Everything's good in moderation. Yes, it's ok for children to have candy, but it shouldn't be like 7 pieces a day. It should be like 1 or 2 pieces a day.
Candy Day is a holiday specific to One region of Guatemala which includes sharing candy with friends, dancing around a bonfire and making homemade chocolate with family! This day is celebrated because of the opening of the dentists office the next day. Guatemalan kids believe that after the dentist opens then they can't have as much candy so they stuff it all in on Candy Day. If people don't have candy on Candy Day than a wealthy friend would share her candy with a candy deprived friend! This Day is celebrated on April 12. The Guatemalan dentists open on April 13.

You are only supposed to take 10 grams of candy in a day. However, you should avoid candy and processed sugars because they might lead to symptoms of diabetes. But it is much healthier if you eat less. This gives a less chance of diabetes.
Physically, a person could probably eat a few dozen. However, that would probably make them very sick. An individual should stick to about one or two pieces of candy a day. Candy and chocolates should be a treat. Candy bars should be a treat maybe once or twice a week, but not every day, and certainly not multiple ones per day.
