Peanut butter was invented not by accident. According to the Corn Products Company, Dr. Ambrose Straub of St. Louis patented a peanut butter-making machine in 1903 and some unknown doctor invented peanut butter in 1890.

All I can tell you is to look it up for yourselves. In my research, I found that peanut butter was invented South Africa. That doesn't mean Mr. Carver didn't invent it himself, but it does mean someone already did. So in my conclusion, it is still, not yet a mystery to the public.
